Welcome back to the Business Mind podcast. It’s Matt. And today we’re going to go through the fourth and final episode of my year end review. What took place this year? What I accomplished, how I got there and what it’s done for me.

It’s got to be the easiest way to make a podcast because they give you everything you need in one place and they do it for free. So it’s pretty awesome, because I’m currently doing all this right from my phone but when I’m at home and I have a few minutes, I pop on the computer and it’s got so many awesome tools and everything to edit and you can do sound effects and all sorts of other really cool things that I haven’t been taking advantage of. But I suggest that you do. They even distribute the podcast for me. I don’t have to figure out where to put it.
…They popped it on Spotify for me. You can edit it on the apple podcast, Google podcast, and a whole bunch of others. But the nicest part is while you’re getting your podcast out there, you can also monetize and you can easily make a little bit of money from doing the podcast with minimal listenership. Okay, Ron, welcome back. I am excited for today because I’m actually on my way home from work today. Not on my way in and we’re going to go over ClickFunnels and we want to pick up where we left off yesterday. So if you haven’t been listening, I suggest you go back three days and start back there because there’s a lot of important stuff and if you pick up now, it might seem like you have no idea where we are. But anyway, we left off yesterday with ClickFunnels. What they are, how they function. I started telling you guys about the free giveaways and give me your email address and what those are all called is lead magnets. The first place people start with funnels is just trying to get more leads. So the click funnel situation was I wanted to start bringing more people into my world.
I’m trying to start up a digital marketing company. Well I’m starting a digital marketing company now, but last year that was the goal. And I knew in order to do that, I had to be able to offer people something more than just website design. Because I think that websites are fantastic. Everybody needs one but it’s not the only thing. And I searched forever to find that other thing. And I found it with sales funnels and marketing funnels. And specifically the platform that I use is called ClickFunnels. And for those of you who don’t know about ClickFunnels, definitely email me. I’ve got some links to really inexpensive books you should check out and even a couple free weeks of the software. If you want to try that out, I can get you two free weeks of it. But anyway, ClickFunnels is outstanding. I mean it makes building sales funnels definitely easier than other systems out there.
And the point of a sales funnel is for higher conversion rates. Then you would typically get on a website or webpage. Let me explain why. When you go onto a regular website what happens when you get on there? Let me tell you what happens to me at least. What happens to me is I get on there and within typically, oh, I don’t know, one to two minutes, I’ve almost forgotten what I was there looking for. Let’s use Amazon as an example, I go on to amazon.com and I’m just looking for that one thing I need from my house, right? Whatever it was, doesn’t matter, a new Pam for the kitchen. And as soon as I get onto the site, I am bombarded with pictures and offerings and discounts and you name it. It’s like somebody threw up on the page. It’s overwhelming. I know it works for Amazon because they sell so
much.
They get people into their ecosystem. And then what can’t you find on Amazon, but for the rest of the world who have websites and the rest of us out there who just are trying to sell a few products, it’s difficult to convert on your site. Now a typical web page will convert between 1 and 2% of the customers that come to it. So getting people to your website is a huge deal because if you’re only converting 1 to 2%, think about how many people have to stop by your website before you sell something, right? I mean, best case scenario, one or two people out of a hundred will buy from your website. So if you’re getting 50 people to come to your website a day, the odds are you’ll only sell, potentially sell something once every other day. Maybe if you’re really lucky once a day but that’s not going to be really good odds.
So that’s why I got into sales funnels and specifically started using ClickFunnels because as I did my research, they are much higher converting. Once you are well versed in how to build funnels and that’s a whole thing in and of itself once you’re well versed in that though, you’re typically going to be able to convert double digits all the time. So once you have a sales funnel that’s really converting high, there are a lot of people that go on to do a million dollars from one sales funnel. Now that might only be selling one or two products. And what they’re doing is they’re sticking with it and they’re getting their sales copyright. Now that like the writing on the page, they’re getting that part, right? They have their layout of the page, right? They have their formulas down correctly.
Their pitch is perfect. And I don’t mean singing. I know that was so cheesy. Anyway, it’s just it’s got a higher conversion rate than anything else I’ve seen. So I decided for my own sake and for my client’s sake, I needed to get that system mastered. And that’s what I’ve been working on since. And that’s what I’m currently working on now. And I’ll be working on it for the foreseeable future because until I get there, I’m not going to stop. I need to have that funnel that converts a million dollars because it means that I’ve solved my problems. It means that I figured out the answer and I found how to make it all happen for me. And then I’m going to be in the two comic clubs, which is an award that ClickFunnels gives out for any sales funnel that does north of a million dollars.
And I would love to be in that club because who doesn’t want to be in a club like that? Who doesn’t want to say you sold a million dollars doing something? I mean, that’s where I want to be, but that’s what ClickFunnels is. That’s what sales funnels are. They are hyper targeted sales pages. That’s essentially what it is. And what you’re doing is you’re using really good sales copy like you would’ve seen in the old direct mail marketing days. And like you see when you go on to the, any… It’s like when you’re standing in line at the food store, right. And you’re standing there and you’re waiting and you look over and you see all the magazines and the inquirer and all those other things in there, right. Now what do you see on the front of all of those, these big headlines and they’re so catchy.
I mean, like a huge headline saying, two-headed something or other born at the zoo never seen before and you want to see it. What do you mean it’s never been seen before? Well, if something’s never been seen before, I sure want to see it or it has some… It has a picture of a celebrity and they’ve got this crazy face they’re making. And it says they were drunk in a casino in some country or something and how they have a gambling problem. And all the people looking at it are saying things like, “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe this popular person has this gambling problem. And there’s something wrong with them” and it’s all this crazy stuff and it’s awesome because it’s eye-catching. It stops you in your tracks and that’s what a sales funnel is supposed to do.
It’s supposed to stop you on your tracks and tell you, “Hey, listen, the stuff you’re looking for, I have it. It’s right here. All you have to do is scroll down, click on the button and give me your information and I’m going to send you this stuff.” And that’s what a sales funnel is. And for those of you who are saying, “I still don’t understand what a CLickFunnel is. Well ClickFunnel is just the platform that you build sales funnels on. Now they have outstanding training, they have a million different… They have books. They have everything you need to learn about sales funnels, including training and everything. But the key is just understanding what they are first because most of the people that I know and have run into have no clue what it is. And then it makes it so hard to explain it because they don’t quite get what I’m talking about.
And a lot of times in order to get people to understand fully what I’m trying to explain to them and trying to show them the best way is to pull up what a regular webpage looks like. And then I pull up a sales funnel or a marketing funnel or a lead funnel that I’m working on. And I show them that. And then it seems like the skies open up and the sun shines through and they get it. They get it. The light turns on. It’s like, “Oh, I understand what you’re saying now, Matt. I don’t have to randomly wait for people to stop on my website. I should be putting things out there and showing them, Hey, this is who I am, come to my website.” And that’s what those sales funnels are. And that’s what a marketing funnel does.
And a lead funnel does that. And I’ll tell you, it’s been awesome. I’ve loved it. Since I got into funnels, it’s kind of taken over my whole life. It’s what I talk about nonstop. Now my poor wife listens to me about it all the time. I am not in the double digit conversion yet but I will be it’s just time and learning and education. And that’s what I’ve been spending all of my time doing. And that’s how I finished out my year. I finished out my year and I’m starting… I’ve actually started building funnels now for my current online business. So my business partner said, “Absolutely, I want to do this. And if you know how to do it, then we need to do it.” That was exciting. I’ve been working on those.
And I’m finally getting to the point after about a month of… Almost a month, not even three weeks of running them and filtering through and putting some traffic to them through Google, meaning getting people I gave it to Google advertising people and had them send some traffic, send some people towards my links so that I can see what, how it converts or doesn’t convert. And, and now I’m learning a ton from it. And that’s all this whole game is about. Regardless of what you’re doing, you’re learning the whole time so you’re not going to get it right the first time, but I’m surely going to work on getting it right the second. And that’s all we’re looking to do here. So that’s been my year, I went from being somebody who was reading about it, learning about all these things, educating myself to figuring, I just started with a goal, I need to figure out how to make more money. I don’t have any more physical time to put out meaning I can, can’t go places and be somewhere physically.
So like getting an additional job, it wasn’t going to make me enough money to solve my financial problems or concerns even. They’re not problems. They’re just concerns. I want to live a better lifestyle so that I can give back to people more. I can’t give back without worrying about making money. So I want to get my wife out of her current situation. And I want her to come and work with me. And that’s something that we’ve just been discussing now. And by the end of this year, that is my goal for 2020, is my wife will be working with me now. I’m putting together my dream team of people that’ll be working on sales funnels and not with me and doing website stuff with me. And I’m starting my own digital marketing company. As you guys have heard, it’s called Nesta Digital Marketing and that’s been 2020 for me.
